A tourniquet, or C-A-T (Combat Application Tourniquet), is designed to stop most arterial bleeding. Simple application, which (depending on the extent of the injury and the individual's resilience) can be managed by the injured person with one hand. When applied correctly, the tourniquet completely stops blood flow to the limb below the point of application. This is because the tourniquet has a built-in movable strap that exerts significant circumferential pressure on the injured limb. Instructions for use

1. Apply the tourniquet proximally to the bleeding site and place the injured limb through the strap loop.
2. Pull the strap very tight and secure it back onto itself.
3. Fasten the strap around the limb.
4. Turn the rod until the bright red bleeding stops
5. Place the rod in the clip and secure it.
6. Attach the strap over the rod, for small extremities, continue to fasten the strap around the limb and over the winding rod.
7. Secure the rod and strap with the strap, attach it to the opposite hook on the clip.
8. Measure the application time.
