Basic airsoft rules

Just like any other game, airsoft has its own official rules. Some are obligatory, others can be modified by the teams at their discretion for the purpose of the game. If you are new to airsoft, or just want to dust off the official rules, this article is for you.

Fixed rules

The rule #1 is that the game should take place exclusively within the combat zone, so no non-participating civilians, that might be near are endangered.

Other rules, that should be followed by all airsoft teams, are mainly health and safety measures to protect individual players. Therefore, it was determined that only six mm BB bullets are allowed to be used as ammunition and only Air Soft mock-up guns as weapons. Each player can choose the type of weapon per their liking.

At the same time, each player must wear protective equipment (glasses, grill, gas mask). Failure to wear at least basic protective gear is at one's own risk. Keep in mind that if you are injured on the battlefield due to the absence of protective gear, you are the sole responsibility for these injuries and not the opponent who shot you.

The following part of the rules concerns the use of explosives. Although you can use over-the-counter explosives (pyrotechnics), smoke shells, flares, and rockets (only non-target fire) on the battlefield, certain types of explosives are not allowed. In particular, it concerns incendiary ammunition, biologically active charged ammunition, or any other ammunition that has a physical or chemical effect on human tissue.

At the same time, the use of explosives with metal, glass, or plastic shells is prohibited, as the explosion is likely to cause shrapnels. Only explosives in thermoplastic or gypsum packaging can be used, as the risk of shrapnel injury is lower. If you set a mine or tear trap, although such an explosive does not create shrapnels, you will also be eliminated from the game.

It is, of course, strictly prohibited to attack (or to aim a weapon) at a non-participating civilian. If the opponent is already labeled as "dead", you are not allowed to shoot at him. If there is a civilian on the battlefield, who cooperates with the playing unit, the civilian does so at his own risk, must follow the rules of the game like the rest of the players and it is allowed to shoot him.

Practical guidelines

Which hits are and are not valid? If it's not entirely obvious, follow these guidelines: hitting a piece of equipment that is covered by the contour of the body is valid. However, if you are hit in the equipment that does not cover the contours of the body, the hit is not valid. This also applies to hitting a weapon - such a shot is not valid. If you are fired at by mistake and get hit, this hit is valid (a so-called friendly fire). If you are hit by a ricochet, the hit does not count.

Once you are shot by a valid hit, you should immediately get up, raise the weapon over your head, remove the headgear, label yourself as "dead" (usually with a white tape wrapped around your head), and leave the battlefield. Usually, the rule is to stay outside the battlefield for at least an hour before returning to the fight.

The number of members of a unit, the type of equipment, the communication between the participants, or the visible team distinction is a matter for the units themselves and is up to them to decide. At the same time, the commander is always responsible for the members of his team understanding the obligatory rules and their compliance.

Now that you know the most important rules, you can start the fight. Feel free to choose from our gear and then head to the battlefield!
